Description
Bodegas Viña Elena, tradition with a vision for the future
This family-owned winery, originally known as Bodegas Pacheco, preserves the essence of traditional winemaking while combining it with the most modern techniques in wine production. Today, the third and fourth generations lead the project, continuing the family legacy and passion for wine and agriculture, just as their father and grandfather once did.
Viña Elena still has all the original winery infrastructure from its beginnings: the winery where the grandfather began making wine in the mid-20th century, alongside the family home, both of which have been recently restored. The different buildings that make up the Viña Elena complex date from various periods and have different purposes, including bulk wine sales, bottling and storage facilities, and areas dedicated to winemaking and ageing.
Visitors are invited to take part in this story, generational evolution and return to origins that completes the circle and reconnects the winery with its own past.
Renewed Wine Tourism
Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and almond trees, the winery is set within a beautiful natural environment that brings together Murcia’s traditional agricultural trilogy. Alongside its wines, visitors may also taste Emi extra virgin olive oil, made from the Arbequina variety, as well as the winery’s own salted and paprika-seasoned almonds.
The basic visit includes a guided tour through the three wineries (from the oldest to the most modern) a walk through the vineyards, and a tasting of three wines, accompanied by a traditional Jumilla tapa, as well as a tasting of their extra virgin olive oil and almonds from their own harvest.
With the recent restoration of La Casa de los Abuelos (The Grandparents’ House), the winery highlights the historic winery and family home where the Pacheco family grew up. This space has become a refined wine and gastronomic venue, serving as the perfect finale to the wine tourism experience. It features small rooms for very limited groups, where guests can enjoy carefully curated wine-pairing menus inspired by family recipes, traditional local cuisine and typical regional products, all enhanced with a personal and contemporary touch.
