1.- BACKGROUND
In accordance with Spanish regulations governing the use of cookies in relation to the provision of electronic communications services, as set out in article 22.2 of Law 34/2002, of July 11, on information society services and electronic commerce, we inform you about the cookies used on the website of ASOC. RUTA DEL VINO DE JUMILLA and the reason for their use.
2.- WHAT ARE COOKIES?
A cookie is a file that is downloaded to your computer when accessing certain web pages. Cookies allow a website, among other things, to store and retrieve information about a user’s or their device’s browsing habits and, depending on the information they contain and how the device is used, they may be used to recognize the user. Cookies are associated only with an anonymous user and their computer or device and do not provide references that allow personal data to be known.
3.- TYPES OF COOKIES
3.1.- According to the entity that manages them
a.- Own cookies: These are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a device or domain managed by the publisher itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
b.- Third-party cookies: These are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a device or domain not managed by the publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies.
3.2.- According to the purpose
There are many purposes for the use of cookies. Depending on the purpose for which the data obtained through cookies is processed, some of the purposes may be:
- a) Technical cookies: Enable the user to navigate through a website, platform, or application and use the different options or services therein, including those used by the publisher to manage and operate the website and enable its functions and services (e.g., controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering items in an order, processing a purchase, managing payment, controlling fraud linked to service security, registering or participating in an event, counting visits for software license billing, using security elements during browsing, storing content for video or audio dissemination, enabling dynamic content such as text/image loading animations, or sharing content via social networks).
Technical cookies are exempt from compliance with the obligations established in Article 22.2 of the LSSI when they allow the provision of the service requested by the user. However, if these cookies are also used for non-exempt purposes (e.g., behavioral advertising), they will be subject to such obligations.
- b) Preference or personalization cookies: Allow remembering information so that the user accesses the service with certain characteristics that may differentiate their experience from that of other users (e.g., language, number of search results, appearance or content of the service depending on the browser or region of access). If the user chooses these characteristics (e.g., selecting the language by clicking the flag icon), such cookies are exempt from Article 22.2 of the LSSI, provided they serve exclusively the selected purpose.
If it is the user who chooses these characteristics (for example, if they select the language of a website by clicking on the icon of the corresponding country flag), the cookies will be exempt from the obligations of article 22.2 of the LSSI as they are considered a service expressly requested by the user, and this as long as the cookies exclusively obey the selected purpose.
- c) Analytics or measurement cookies: Allow the responsible party to monitor and analyze user behavior on linked websites, including quantifying ad impacts. The information collected is used to measure website, application, or platform activity, with the aim of introducing improvements based on usage analysis.
- d) Behavioral advertising cookies: Store information on users’ behavior obtained through continuous observation of browsing habits, enabling the development of a specific profile to display advertising based on it.
3.3.- According to the lenght of time they remain active
- a) Session cookies: Designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website. They are typically used to store information needed only once (e.g., a shopping cart) and disappear at the end of the session.
- b) Persistent cookies: Data remains stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie’s controller, ranging from minutes to several years.
